white specks floating

8 days into the cycle I have little white specks floating around my tank. I have alot of white build up on my heater does this go away?

It should go away by itself when the cycle completes. I suspect the build-up on your heater may be tiny air bubbles, but don't quote me on that. The rest is most probably just a bacterial bloom, which happens in most (if not all) tanks when they are first set up, until your wanted bacterial colonies (ammonia and nitrite processing) build up to the required levels.
