Hi I have a 4 foot salt water tank. In our tank at home we have a blue and yellow damsel (can be aggressive to newfish), a Yellow bi-coloured dawf angel (rules the tank), a wrass (also can be aggressive to new fish) and two black and white clownies (amuse themselves).
Now recently bought a lawnmower blenny and a dotti-back. However we saw a small White ribbon Eel and was wondering if we could keep it as well. Just worried the other fish are going to attack it. When we got the blenny and dotti the other fish were very territorial but within a day the dotti had its own little spot and stood up for itself against the wrass and damsel. Is it safe to keep the Eel? And has anyone got any expericence with keeping them? Anything you can tell me would be great, done a little research but it's always good to hear first hand. (Have a four foot tank, corrals, sponges, live rock and found a crab too.)Also the Blenny has been MISSING for 5 days!!!. It was sitting on some piping we had in the tank and now it's just disappeared. We have tried feeding the tank everything to draw it out, but so far no luck. It hasnt jumped out of the tank and I don't think it's been eaten. We have looked in all the small caves in the rocks but haven't seen anything. Is it dead? Is there a way of knowing? Please comment if you think you can help.

Ribbon eels are very delicate eels, among the most delicate. Be sure it's eating at the lfs before you buy it. However, I would not add a ribbon eel to your tank. I think the tank mates are too aggressive for it. How big is the 4ft tank. 4ft doesn't tell us anything really. 55g are 4 ft as well as 75's, some 100's, 120g's are also 4ft. Also some 210 cubes are 4ft! Big difference in water capacity and swimming room for the fish :)

Well we have a filter for the tank with two pipes, one to filter the water and the other to put the filtered water back into the tank. But when we got the clown fish we put a smaller piping into the pipe filtering the water so no fish could be sucked into the filter, so I dont think its in there, but will check. Thanks.

I think its a 75g. Yeah thats what i was worried about because when we added the dotti back the damsel and wrass attacked it straight away after sizing each other up. They still fight a little but our angel acts like a police for new fish, its pretty funny actually. Attacks all the fish, and protects the little new ones.
