Good evening

I've posted about this before in a cloudy water thread but noone really answered. I was curious what people think this white oily like substance that is only visible from the bottom of the tank could be. I say visible from the bottom because when i open the hood and look down you can't see it. It can only be seen from below.

I just read that Stresscoat could cause this, that is what I use to dechlorinate. Anybody heard of this?

Have you added any new wood lately? Its either from wood or your food.

Drag a sheet of newspaper over the surface to remove it.

That will probably be it then mate. Take it out and give it a soak in some red hot boiling water to see if you can get some of the oils out. A good scrub will also help. :good:

strange, i boiled for a few a days before hand, must not have been enough.

What kind of wood is it?

not 100% sure, it was packaged driftwood from my LFS. So i boiled water and it definitely released some tannins and oils, put it back in the tank and a little oil came out but not much. I think we have the solution!
