I fed the gang this AM and noticed one of my syno petricola seemed to have a large ish White
Patch on it's side :-( it didn't yesterday but that's the only mark it has no other White marks. Is this serious or has it been in a fight? Looks happy in itself swimming around.
Could it be unwel? The others are fine and have no marks :-l

Cheers guys

can you get a pic? could be 1 of 3 things . it could be either a health issue , an injury from fighting , or a heater burn

I'll try and get a pic later on at work at the mo seemed happy in itself but need to get treating if required. The mark is large ish compare to the size of the fish which is tiny. In a way it looks the size of other fishes mouth maybe. They are quick little buggers but I'll try for a pic later.

Medication wise what would you recommend for a medical box? Just to have in case of an emergency? Is herbal best to go for and what type and make?

Cheers :)

all depends what it is . if its an injury or heater burn you will nedd nothing more than maybe extra waterchanges to keep the water really clean and it should heal up fine on its own , if its disease youl need to know what it is before deciding on a treatment , this is why a pic would be so helpful. altho synos aint the easiest of fish to photograph lol

Sorry to hear of your trouble SF. Wilder or someone over in emergencies might be of great help. Two things that come to mind when thinking how it could happen (besides disease) are that when you move in new fish they sometimes have scraped themselves getting netted in the LFS or in subsequent transfers or against each other in a bag if they shared. And then there's just the whole thing of cichlids and synos.. complicated sets of behaviors that might include a nighttime attack or something, but it's not my area. WD

Iv tried to look for the syno with the mark and can't find it! All 3 are swimming around fine but where is the spot! Unless I'm looking at the same to fish thinking iv seen them all haha I shall keep an eye out. I certainly did not imagine it but can't see it now. I'll keep one eye on the tank and one ready to get the camera!
