drs a white growth growing out da side of my neon tetras mouth, otherwise hes perfectly healthy nd is feeding well bt growth is getin bigger??

You need to isolate the fish into a separate hospital tank at once as this is a very contagios disease. Then you need to get a fungus medication to treat it.

If more than one fish has it by now, then treat the whole tank, if it's just that one then separate him and treat only that one.

You should test your tank water with a liquid test kit too as a great deal of fish diseases are caused by poor water quality.

How long has the tank been set up, and how often do you do water changes?

Also, what other fish are in your tank and how many litres or gallons is it?

2 sunset dwarf gouramis, 6 neon tetras, 6 campoma guppys, 4 corys, 1 pleco. 1 neon tetra it looks like cotton on da OTHER its transparent wit slight cotton, its a 30 litre tank (60 by 30 by 30)

You are SEVERELY overstocked and your tank isWAY too small for almost all of the fish in there, even the neons . 30 litres is only just over 5 gallons and you have far FAR too many fish in there. That tank is big enough for ONE betta or possibly ONE dwarf gourami and nothing else. If a pet store told you that you could have all those fish in there then they have told you very wrongly indeed.


Your tank and filter basically cannot cope with the amount of waste being made by all those fish, and your ammonia and nitrites ( very harmful to fish, and found in their waste products ) is most likely going to be extremely high if you test it. This is what causes diseases like whitespot, and also the fungus your neons have.

You need a much bigger tank, 20 gallons at least.

If the pleco is a common pleco ( the bog standard ones in many shops tend to be these ) then you need to take it back or re-home it, because they grow to well over 12 inches long and they make a LOT of waste . A common pleco needs a tank of well over 50 gallons by the time it reaches adulthood, and it will be stunted in it's growth very badly if you keep it in your current tank which would be a very cruel thing to do.

Look online, on Ebay, Craigslist, garage sales or other such places for a tank of at least 20 gallons, preferably bigger. You can get them quite cheaply. If you haven't the room at home for a tank that size then you will need to rehome or return all of your fish except one of the gouramis. Because that is all your tank can take.


As for the neons, you should get a clear plastic storage tub, set it up the same way as a tank ( filter and heater and some cheap silk plants ) and treat their fungus with a fungus medication.

In the meantime, while you either look for a bigger tank or arrange to re-home the fish, you need to do 50% water changes on your tank every 3 days to try and keep the waste down. Even a small pleco makes a lot of waste.

If you don't do anything your fish will continue to become diseased and will die off. This is a problem that needs to be sorted as quickly as you can.
