White Dots On Fishtank?

these white dots keep appearing on the filter and on the hood. Can anyone help me ?

I was thinking snail eggs, too, but didn't know if they would lay eggs out of the water...

Apple snails lay eggs out of water so some other species must do, their eggs are more like a gross brain-like clump rather than white dots though!

Would it be calcium building up. Does it look hard and crusty? If so my bet is calcium.

Don't think those are eggs. Agree that they might be some mineral deposits. Shouldn't be a problem except for needing to clean.

Looks like it is associated with splashing from the filter. I would check it out. I would not want my filter splashing like that. But the pattern makes me think about some sort of mineral deposit from water that gets splashed and then dries. Is this a salt water tank?

That looks very much like scale from hard water. How hard is your tapwater?

i am not sure how hard the water is in my area. i live in athens greece. how do i find out how hard the water is?

If you can order or get hold of some liquid GH/KH test kits, you can measure the hardness. They are made by API, Tetratec, Salifert and others.
