White Crusty Stuff?

Am just cleaning out my time for the first time in 3 years or so due to brown hard green algea and fish dying and plants. So just clean the hold tank and gravel and filter, the deco not yet. Just is that the my compact florecent corallife hood is fill with white crusty stuff and white stain that just after I clean it and dry it reappears, it also on top of tank cover. How dod I get rid of this?

Limescale buildup.
Bad problem w/ it here as well.
Heard that using some white vinegar makes it a bit easier to clean off.

im glad you asked as i have the very same problem. i think you need to be very careful with vinegar though as it will damage the silicone if it gets to it
wonder what it doing to the filter impeller?

oh just had a thought to, wonder what its doing to my washing machine

Will try it and be very careful but ya it doesnt let light go into my acylic tank.
