Which Type Of Betta Is The Hardiest And The Best

I love a lovely turquise coloured betta but I doubt I will get one from the lfs.
Bet there all red, yellow and blue.
I hate red as a colour but the red betta might look nice with the plants.

I've seen turquoise ones...the ones that have red aswell....I'm like you though...not really a red fan even with other colours.....damn the mind of an artist!

We have a good betta place in town which often has a great array of colours....cerise to white to orange....:)

I got Odin because he's mainly bluey purple, with cerise highlights.....i love the pink!!!

Not keen on turquoise betta with red bits not very nice lol.
I think the colours clash.
As long as he has sweet adorable eyes I won't really care what colour he is.

yeha i agree....damn nature's clashing colours, shame store bought bettas can't be alluring like aquabid ones, you get gorgeous blacks with over tones of gold, or blue, or red.....absaloubtly stunning!
Each betta has different coloured eyes too, Odin's are like an amber colour....I'd love a betta with blue eyes :)

wilder, sand is a great option as it brings the colour of the fish out BUT  ive got several sand based tanks and find that with the presence of croys that shuffle around quite regular along the bottom i dont get a build up of aglae across the top of the sand, the sand tanks that i have without cories have the algae, and as cories are good tank mates for bettas this is more of a prevention than cure as once algae is set in no matter how long it takes, you can never get rid of it in sand without gutting the tank and starting again............for anyone who wants to give me the comment of too much light, please dont as some of the algae based sanded tanks are nowhere near a light source. the spores have been transported by plants being put into the tank

Thanks for the advice modaz.
I will keep giving it a stir to stop the algae.
Don't really want to add anymore fish to the tank.
Got corys in my other tank and there cute, I got a bad batch of panda corys once and wary of getting anymore.

Delayed getting the betta as my tank was still cloudy due to the sand.
How long does it take for the tank to be crystal clear, as i'm fed up its been two days now and its still cloudy, even loads of filter floss in the filter.

did you rinse the sand first? when using sand i put it in a bucket fill with water and swirl the sand about and then drain off the water, fill up again and repeat until the water im draining off is clear.
do a water change, it will help remove some of the dirt and it will spread out whats left. the betta should be fine with the cloudy water.

Yes I washed the sand.
The water dosn't look mucky, just not crystal clear at the moment.
