Which Tank? 180L Or 240L.

i'm looking at getting another tank soon. before the space i had planned for my tank, would not fit a 4ft fish tank, so i was looking at the rio 180. now i have found a new space which mother allows me to put another tank into, but now i can fit a 4ft. i want to keep, spanner barbs, pictus catfish and possibly some sort of pleco. i was just wondering if i would gain alot from going bigger, as obviously a 180 would be easier to maintain, and cheaper to run. but i like to keep my options open, and i think my spanner barbs may require 4ft.

i would go for the largest you can get ie,240 what do you mean by "cheaper to run"? there would be an un noticable diierence in running costs between those two sizes.. and for other things like declorinator, well just switch to pond supplies.. much better value for ££

I agree, it's a no brainer-get the biggest you can fit in. Yes it will be a bit more for sand/gravel etc in initial setup, but as shelagh says, day to day running will be almost the same. And it will be easier to control the water conditions

Agreed with Shelagh! Get the 240, you wont regret it, maintenance is not that much different and your cost to run wont be much more both will need same heater size and thats where most of the engergy is used up in a tank filters are quite low power (or so I believe) Have a look on AQ there are a few good 240 tanks at the moment. Also good thing about a 240 tank is you have the Jewel Rio 240 and the Fluval Roma 240 so you have 2 very popular brands of tank at that size so you have a good chance of finding one you need

thanks guys, i was worried when i posted this question that i would get "ehh what are you on about" but seems like you guys are mind readers. i think i will go for the 240. its just finding one local.
