Personal choice.....I have playsand with which I am very happy

Dorsey i was wondering what kind of playsand?
Sorry for the poll thing i messed it up

I used to have pool filter sand. It has alot of rocks in it and it's very white. I had to get rid of it because it was washing out my fish's colors.

As mentioned, it's more personal choice. Lighter substrates seem to mute the colors of the fish as mentioned by drobbyb. I prefew black substrate as it really brings out the color of the fish. Both will be equally clean once you wash them good before adding them to the tank. And they will probably be about the same tint (dark or light). As far a what type playsand, they are all pretty much the same. You can get it in a bag at most all home improvement stores (not sure what country you're in).

I have some bottom feeder like corycats and I was wondering which would be better for them?

With corys, you definitely want sand. Look for sand that is relatively fine grained and doesn't have sharp edges. Both the play and pool sand should be fine in that respect.
