Hi all, i was hoping to recieve some of your great advice. So i was thinking of adding some variety to the fishes meals. They are usually fed Aquarian Tropical Flake Food. All our previous fish have been fed this so its what we usually stick to. But everybody human or animal like variety as i know with my dog who will hates having the same meal every night. So which live food would be best for Mollies, Neon Tetras, Guppies and Platys? And are there any things i should look out for when buying live food etc. I would have to travel 20 minutes away due to the local pet shops not having any so just though i would get some advice before i take the journey this weekend.

:)

I pick up blood worm & brine shrimp when I pass my local per shop but always have frozen blood worms & cyclops at home.
Generally I feed the frozen stuff a minimum of once a week.
My tank is a community like yours with various fish in it.
They love the change from flake & the colours are really vibrant.

Blackworms are my live food of choice for my fish. My fish know when I approach a certain corner of the tank that that's where I put the worms in, and they'll all crowd around but get scared off when my gourami struts in with his fins flared. They're pretty easy to take care of in the meantime, just give them a little bath similar to a WC but empty out most of the water, then put them back in the fridge. Usually I feed a little bit every other day.

I feed live brine shrimp to my guppies, but I feed the brine shrimp some spirulina powder before I feed them to my guppies, i believe this is called gut loading. I feel it's like a double dose of good stuff

You are what you eat they say lol

I am swaying towards Bloodworms for a first time. This is an area that im inexperienced in at the moment. Just a few questions... When bought how long will they last before they are fed to my fish or do they have to be fed the day they are bought and what care is needed for the Bloodworms or is it the same as you DreamertK said about the Blackworms?

When i get my bloodworms from my lfs i always feed them to my fish that day. I am not sure how long they would last so want to feed them whilst they are still alive

I feed the brine shrimp over 2 days. They stay in the refrigerator and the low temperature slows their metabolism an they stay alive.

Ok thats great. Definatley considering Bloodworms and even Brine Shrimp now. Thankyou everyone! :)

I have blackworms sitting in my fridge for a few weeks before my fish eat them all. The thing that really kills them is exposing them to heat (once I left the bag ontop of my light), or not changing the water every time I do a feeding, or dehydration where they crawl up the side of the container by themselves and dry up.

So i bought some bloodworms today and fed abit to my fish... my mollies and neon tetras went baserk shoving there faces full. My platys and guppies however. Maybe next time i feed them they will join the feast. Thankyou for the options everyone. :)
