If I am breeding guppies and put the males and females in seperate tanks; which one will I introduce to whom? Males to the female tank, or females to the main tank.

i dont know if it really matters but i would add the female first so she can get used to the tank before the male comes in and tries to do his thing

What is your purpose of breeding? Are you trying to keep a strain going? If so, you want to make sure you know which female and which male are mating. They should be isolated pairs for mating. If you don't care and want all the fish to just produce babies, there's less care in the decision.

You still want three females to every male for the first male and two for every male after that. Unless it is for a small period of time, I would not put a female in with the males as they will constantly be harassing the female.

I kinda of want to control the population. I figured if I seperate them; no breeding.

Well, two of my females are currently pregnant and I believe are going to give birth very soon. That's what I mean by breeding them. After they give birth, I am planning on seperating all the males from the females or vice versa.

My female is giving birth right now!!!! I'll be back in a few.

Have fun, guppy females store sperm for up to six months that means even while separated from males they will become pregnant. you could have six births of fry given a 30 day pregnancy. and thats from just one guppy female. welcome to millions fish. good luck.
