Which Fish Do You Find The Hardest To Catch?

Holding female mbuna, or any of them for that matter. The little buggers are smart, they have figured out what the net is and dart into crevices whenever they see it. And moving 130lbs of rock isn't an option, so I just hope every stays healthy. :good:

Danios and livebearers are generally easy to catch - just chuck in some food, and they'll be like "OMG, food!" and will congregate up the top and are an easy scoop.
CAEs can certainly be tricky. Last time I moved house, even with no decor in the tank I couldn't catch the bugger. in the end had to leave an inch of water in the tank and continue moving. He was fine.

flagtail cories- very shy and always hide whenever you go up to the tank.

Also try finding a kuhli loach to put into a new tank!!! They disappear into the gravel. Last time I had to get everything but the gravel out, then started getting the gravel out handful by handful, then when it appears you have to catch the thing argh!!

of the fish i've had, the kuhli loaches were definately the hardest to catch. probably anything that buries itself in the gravel is going to give trouble because they're usually very fast and even if you've removed all the decorations, they can still hide and travel without notice.

malawi/tanginyikan cichlids in a heavily decorated, rocky aquarium. By far the hardest thing to catch in the shop where i work, all the tanks are decorated, which is good for the fish (they have more colour than just about anywhere else ive been) but bad for the catcher.

I have a Saturday job at my lfs and I find the worst fish to catch is either the zebra danios, or yo-yo loaches.

Especially when people are being selective about which individual danios they want lol, though I cant blame them, I do think it's right people should be able to choose the healthiest/best looking fish in the tank, and sometimes you can get pretty runty ones (I myself have a runty zebra danio, he's bulking up though).

Once I had to catch two (yep, just two) zebra danios from a 4 foot tank filled with tonnes of various small tetras, took me aaaaaaaaaaages. But then I'm still not that great at catching fish as it is  .
