Nurglepuss - had looked at HOB filters and decided against it. I have cats and I think it would be too much of an attraction for them, and/or would be used as some kind of stepping stone to get up onto the tank. I also don't have much room behind the tank, due to it's position, so it'd have to go on the side. Will get an external. I've seen good reviews for the Fluval 105 and it seems like it has some good features (the aqua-stop), but still looking at all the options due to the comments here on it. Everyone has different opinions, so it's a case of finding what will suit me... and hoping I don't kill everything in the process! lol!
