Which Filter Material

Hi everyone just purchased a used Fluval Roma 2oo ,comes with a fluval 205,never having used an external filter before wondering what filter materials would I be best using?

It should come with ceramic rings and activated carbon if it's new, though personally I'd save the carbon for later and fill the space with something else. Everyone has their own favourite filter media, but you can just use whatever takes your fancy.

Thanks for the reply,, the filter is also used came with the tank it contained carbon which is prob useless now and two baskets full of ceramic rings,should I replace the ceramics with new or will they still be ok after a good rinse?
