Which External?

Looking to replace my rubbish internal for an external filter, looking for something around 700lph, for 10x turnover. Currently deciding between the Fluval 205 and Tetratec Ex700. Can anyone suggest a better one, or comment on how they got on with theirs?

i have the ex 1200 and cant fault it (second hand to and no problems at all)

i topped the ceramic media up but thats all i did that was different and i get very clear water even without filter floss

never had experianc with fluval's so can really comment

how about eheim 2224,i been using one since start of this year and no proplems,its quiet and clear water.

i did some homework on tetratec both new and used and all used units seamed to advertised new o rings fitted or new valve blocks fitted! made me think they have troubles with leaks.

like i say thou i cant fault my eheim 2224 and it was cheap new off ebay.

Eheim 2215/2217.
I have the 2215 on my 64L and it's silent apart from the cabinet humming.

there was a bad batch that needed new o rings but the new units are fine now aparently mine is quite old and never had a problem it came with the original o ring to

I've been running a Fluval 205 for 3 months now on a 98 liter. Seems to do a great job keeping the water clear. I don't know what kind of hourly turnover I'm getting, but it's hard to complain when the water looks good and tests well. There are 3 large media trays in addition to the tall foam filter inserts. I put ceramic rings in two of the trays, and carbon in the other (just because it came with the filter). I cannot hear the pump when it is running, instead visibly checking for the water current resulting from the outflow pipe to make sure it's running okay.

Ended up getting the Maidenhead Aquatics exclusive Aquamanta EFX 200, because it was

- £5 cheaper than the FluvaL
- does 800lph, compared to Fluval's 680 and Tetratec's 700
- 4 year guarentee

EDIT: Plus I'm on work-exp. there for two weeks, so I want them to like me
