i am going to start breeding guppies. i have a 10 gal tank for adults and a 5 gal for fry. my females are pregnant. i have one heater. should it be for the fry or the adults?

Both tanks will need a filter.

What is your lowest ambient room temperature where the tanks will be kept?

im not sure.not too low. and i dont really want to buy annother heater.

Unless your room is staying at a nice consistent 24 degrees then if its lower you need a heater.

If you don't want to buy another heater then i'm afraid you will need to keep your fry in the main tank.

what is that degrees Fahrenheit?
I am fairly certain 24°C is approximately 66°F..

The conversion from °F to °C is divide the temp by 17/16th and add 32.. or something like that..

24 C = 75.2 F, formula is 24 x 9/5 + 32 (or 24 x.1.8 + 32 ) = 75.2

Or seeing as you are all on internet connected devices, let that internet do that hard work like I did ;)

Also there is a calculator on this forum. Its in the tabs.

Some very good advice
All guppies do well when kept between 68-74  degrees Fahrenheit
many fish keepers believe that a tank temperature should  be constant  which is not entirely true,
When kept without a heater a room temperature can fluctuate.
a few degrees in fluctuations will do no harm to fish,
if you only have or use one heater it will be best for the fry the higher temp-  will help to grow them on a bit faster,
