ok so new tank set up on the way few mote work shifts and ill be on my way to purchse the tank eheim 54l so stocking list is as follows....

5 dalmation mollies

5 red swortails or platies depending on quality of platies because ino myself i hate the platy fish if it has be neglected.

2-3 corys not sure what species i have been to all 5 of my lfs's and dont like the livebears they have so i have to order online i need some website that is low on postage price and high in quality and can deliver to coleraine northern ireland thanks guys

Is the tank the Eheim Aquastar? I have one of those and despite what it says, it does not hold 54 litres of water. The 54 litres is the space enclosed within the glass walls and it includes the air space you need above the water. By the time you displace some water for substrate, filter, heater and decor, you can get 45 litres of water in the tank. I know, I measured it in!

I would not put  mollies in this tank, it is too small. And you need at least 6 cories, preferably one of the dwarf species as the larger ones will be too big for the tank.. I have pygmy cories in mine.

It's also too small for swordtails, instead you could have platys.

I cant help you with suppliers of livebearers but I would strongly suggest if going with livebearers then get Endlers, these are generally smaller, have smaller broods but still can breed like there is no tomorrow.

Ideally in your sized tank I would not keep livebearers instead I would look at small egg scatters such as Rasbora maculata or other micro fish species. Even a small school of spotted blue eyes or other small blue eye species could work in your tank.

Another option would be shrimp such as neocaridina or caridina species, both of which come in a wide range of colours, price and difficulty in keeping.

The only fish off that list that would be suitable to this size tank would be cories, and only the very small variety such as pygmaeus, hastatus, and habrosus.
At least to my knowledge..I had always thought platies needed a 15g and yours comes out to 11g once you start looking at it the way essjay has explained.

I'm sorry I don't know of any breeders you could contact. :/

Love Baccus idea. I have spotted blue eyes and they are gorgeous. I hope to one day have a tank for chili rasbora and another for shrimp as well.

In my Eheim Aquastar I have a shoal of pygmy cories, a shoal of Sundadanio axelrodi, cherry shrimps and 2 nerite snails. A bit overstocked, I know

ok thanks i realise the tank is small and i also dont inteand to breed from the fish as i hope to get my mum hooked on fish keeping if she sees a bunch if fry all over the ppace being eaten sheel be pit off i breed guppies myself snakeskins and i will look at endlers maybe an otto or too instead then it will be all males.

That sounds like a nice plan with all male endlers, and some otos, there are many colours available in endlers but I still have a soft spot for the good old black bars.
