just wondering where people position there power head for extra flow and what position the have it in,i was thinking the opposite end from my intake pipe from my external filter.

thanks

I have the output on one side and the intake on the opposite. I have the twin output nozzles(this is an FX5) so that one is pointing up towards the surface and flowing the length of the tank for agitation and oxygenation and the other one pointing downward towards the front slightly to sweep debris towards the intake. Lol, hmmm does that make sense?

Opposite side and about an inch below the surface to create a decent rippling effect to the surface of the water which will help get good amounts of oxygen into your water! :good:

Funny you should ask that. I was going to ask the same question!

I bought a 1400lph max flow powerhead for my tank. I put it on the right side of the picture, in front of the outlet pipe (hood filter) and point it lengthwise and slightly upwards to create a ripple effect. This results in a clockwise flow within the top part of the tank. Did that because not sure if all my fishes like the extra flow. It appears that the rainbowfishes does, as they are forever "surfing" in the current. My firemouth isn't too bother from what I've observed...

think i will put it at the opposite side from the intake then, just trying to create a flow that will move any debris towards the intake pipe.should i position the powerhead at the front or back of the tank?

thanks

scott

I have mine in the back corner, with the flow aimed towards the surface and the bottom. One nozzle flows up and along the length of the tank. The other pointed down and towards the front glass.
