Hello, I need to find a place to obtain flubendazole (Recommended by Colin T). I just need specific instruction on where to find buy it, please. My very infected catfish isn't even eating, so I need a medication that I can put in the water. I already have Focus and General Cure (Possibly others). Thank you for any help.

I have had Flubedazole in my med kit for many years. I have used it to treat and cure what is commonly called wasting disease. You can buy it in its pure form here and you can read some papers on it as well on the same site.

http://www.inkmkr.com/Fish/ scroll down and look to the left.
Flubendazole 5 % powder
Postage increased in late 2022. What was $7.15 is now $8.50
Best for eliminating Hydra. Treats protozoa wasting disease, serious treatment for Velvet, enternal and external parasites, 1/4 teaspoon of 10 % powder treats about 20 gallons of water for most parasitic Protozoa. Eliminate Carbon filtration during treatment. Change most of the water after 10 days.
Will not harm plants, Prolonged use will kill most all snails. ........

Flubendazole is active through adsorption into the fish’s skin and gills. The drug does not have to be eaten to be effective. This makes the drug useful for treating fishes which have quit eating due to irritation from infection of the throat and gut.

The site belongs to Dr. Charles Harrison. You wll notice he sells other meds. I also have in my med kit Levamisole HCL which I also got from him. You order by scrolling to the bottom of the pages with the meds and prices etc. Fill out the form. He may contact you asking for more info about why you need the med. But if you give him enough info in the order form, he may be satisfied. He wants to make people actually need the med and tnhen to seel them an ammount sufficient to treat the tank where your sick fish is kept.

Dr. Harrison is a long time fish keeper and breeder in addition to his work.

I believe he ships to Canada. or used to.

I agree inkmkr is a good place to get flubendazole & other drugs. I was given a huge jar of it through my plant club, expired now but I might still try it in an emergency.

let us know how it works out.

You won't notice any difference for a couple of weeks after deworming but the fish should start to look better after a month if it's worms.

Noticed something weird this morning.
Is this a parasite of some sort being excreted? Thanks!!
Let me know if you need better footage to determine. The quality is a bit better on YouTube.com

Colin, For suspected worms what dose of Flubenzadole should I try? You mentioned treating for 2-3 weeks. Do I dose after each weekly water change?

I have no idea what the dose rate is for flubendazole because we don't get it here and the products I see online have different concentrations. Hopefully there are instructions on the packet, if not you will have to Google it or start a thread here asking for dose rates on flubendazole.

Most deworming medications are safe to slightly overdose. Fish that have been overdosed will usually become skittish and nervous within an hour after treatment. If you notice that, you can do a 10% water change to reduce it. Some fish become more active during and after treatment and this is different to being skittish. If the fish is swimming a bit more and eating normally (or as normal as it has been), then it's fine and you haven't overdosed.

----------------------

Treat the fish and wait a couple of days, then do a big (75-90%) water change and gravel clean, and clean the filter. Wait a week from the first treatment and treat the fish again, wait a couple more days before doing the water change, gravel and filter clean. Treat them a 3rd and possibly 4th time with water changes a couple of days after each treatment.

Your weekly water change will be done a couple of days after treatment.
