 hello :)

I just set up my 150 liter tank and im nearing the end of my cycle. I live somewhere in europe (not england, private)
and there is a specialised aquarium store about 15 ins away, but it is expensive and my parents are fed up with how
much my aquarium is costing them. I know most people say I should buy my fish in a proffessional aquarium store or
else Ill get genetic crap but theres a pet store only5 min away which is not speciaised in fish but has a really good
fish section. is it ok if i buy my fishes thre to lower my price or will there be consequences?

I;m not quite sure what you mean but I;d say use your own judgement. You can generally spot what fish stock looks healthy and well cared for and if you have a tight budget then you will have to go to that store. A lower budget may actually be an advantage to you as taking stockinng slowly will save you money in the long run!

Good luck :good:

The only reason to buy specialty fish at high prices is if you were going to try to show them or breed them for profit. The slight differences seen with a "top quality" fish, top quality in terms of genetic background, is that they might get an extra point or two at a fish show. For general use by most of us, the extra cost returns nothing in exchange. If you are finding fish that you like and they are in good health, go for it. There can be another difference between average fish and cheap fish and that is that some places do not take proper care of their fish. A sick fish is never welcomed into my tanks.
