I have to euthanize a fish (long story) and need some Clove oil. Where can I get this ? Something like boots or Holland & Barrett ? I'm so busy this week and don't really have time to hunt around, so help & direction would be appreciated. Thanks :)

you can buy it from most chemists

Yep, Holland and Barrett should (but it's not listed on their website) or any health food shop with essential oils, or a hippy candle/aromatherapy type shop. If you can't get any let me know and I'll post you my bottle, you only need a few drops then you can post it back.

Sorry about your fish :rip:

hi
i bought pure clove oil from boots but as said most chemists should have it - ask at the pharmacy counter.
sorry about your fish but clove oil is a very humane way to do the deed - ive done it myself & although hate it i could definitely not use any other methods.

Fab thanks guys. I have a Male Betta that I need to put to euthanize :-( He's just become dreadfully thin over the past few months and nothing's helped. I don't even know how old he is, so perhaps it's just old age :dunno: but it's painful for me to just watch him - even though he eats and is still active; he is a swimming skeleton. He doesn't have parasites or anything like that. He shares a divided tank and the others are all glowing with health and they all get fed exactly the same amount of food. I just can't take seeing him like that anymore - is that wrong ?

No, you are right to not want to see him growing painfully thin despite eating. My guess is that it is actually fish TB, a bacterial infection that is almost impossible to treat. I've heard of minocycline or tetracycline sometimes treating this, and since he is still eating you may be able to treat it with some internal antibiotics. But, like I said, it is notoriously hard to treat. I don't think anyone will say you should have done anything else if you were to euthanize now.

This does not convey the true image of how incredibly thin he is, but it quite clearly indicates the skeleton which is just very abnormal :/

This is DEFINATELY fish TB. In addition to being very thin, his head looks way too big for his body. The final selling point for me was the bent spine. That is a trademark symptom of fish TB. Good luck, with whatever you decide to do.
