Where Do You Sell You Bettas?

I was wondering where everyone sells their fish at? Do you sell mostly online or to shops? Just wondering.

We have our own website which we sell our Bettas on but we also have an independant lfs which will buy from us too.

I will sell from here in the for sale section having told all the betta people that they are on there and possibly on ebay!

How many do you usually sell at a time? I have been thinking about breeding them for a year now, just want to get all my facts first. Im worried about having lots of fry to sell. Id really like to only have small batches at a time, not sure how that works though.

I will make a website, and sell on the different forums. I could see if the ifs would buy from me as well.


How do you ship them? I worry about this part a lot.

What do you do with the ones you don't sell?

These are the million dollar questions You never know how many fry you're going to get, so if you know you could only deal with 50 then dont bother, because you could end up with 150. Culling of deformed fry is accepted by many people, but culling just to get the numbers down is not acceptable.

Sometimes people may buy 5 at a time, other times just the 1. One week we sold 20 in just over a week, but other times its slower. And it all depends what colour and tail type the betta is.

Realistically you need to make provisions to look after them for at least 4 months before selling and then it may take another few months to sell. The ones that dont sell, we either keep or give away to good homes

You'd have to speak to people in the USA about methods of posting, but the basics are the same. Double bagged, box lined with polystyrene ball thingys, heatpack and next day delivery
