Good evening

I'm very envious of some of the driftwood decor I see in people's tanks around here.

Particularly the pieces that look like a tree branch rather than a chunk of log

the only driftwood I can find are the chunk of log style kinds, and I do like it, but I feel like my tank's decor is lacking a focal point. I'd like to get the more tree branch shaped driftwood to complete it in a sense.

I know a few of you get yours straight from outside, but any wood I find out here is really soft and fragile after it dries out. I'd be afraid of it splintering and rotting inside the fish tank.

I'm looking more for the really dark, similar to malaysian driftwood so I can move the mopani back to my 37 gallon and have the new stuff match the malaysian in my tank.

Any recommendations or thoughts or suggestions are appreciated, thanks much.

There's a lot on eBay, but the postage is a bit steep
Some Lfs have some nice looking pieces, but again they aren't cheap, saw a gorgeous piece in a Maidenhead aquatics recently but it was £15.
Maybe put a wanted ad here in the classifieds?

Yeah same here, my LFS only seems to stock Driftwood but I would really like to get some manzanita wood.

Buying online IMO is risky without Actual pictures

The pieces of malaysian driftwood here run at $20-$30 at my LFS, but all of them are the stump like pieces rather than branch like. I wouldn't mind having a large stump like piece, but none of them are big enough to make a real focal point in comparison to my other pieces of driftwood.

Give eBay a look, you might find something you liken there if you're willing to pay the postage

you should have loads of Manzy wood in the USA. :good:

I got mine from Aqua Essentials online. It costs a pretty penny, but very much worth it in my opinion.

I bought my Manzanita wood online from a seller in CA. It wasn't cheap, but worth every penny now that it's in my tank. Makes me want to go hiking and find some trees to chop up. To bad there aren't a lot of trees in Cen-Texas :X

Manzanita

The best part was the pictures you look at are the actual piece you would buy, and every week they have new ones. I can't even go on there anymore because I am tempted to get more!

Those prices really aren't bad at all. Thanks for the link! Might be just what I'm looking for....

:good: Mine stopped floating in just a few weeks, and a few small rocks were enough to hold it down.
