So im back in the fish game but on a much smaller scale and budget. Obvious choice was to go back to keeping bettas again but unfortunately my lfs have either closed or just stock your run of the mill red/blue VT. A 50 mile trip is no longer in the question lol.
I know alot of people buy theirs from breeders online, who do you use?

I buy from walmart or petsmart

I've bought all my bettas from LFSs, but I would be quite happy to spend the £30-£40 or so required to get a 'fancy' one (aka not your average LPS/LFS betta, eg HM, PK, DT, etc) BettaBoys is a well known UK store and I know of another store called FinznTailz (or something like that) which also sell bettas. eBay & Aquarists classifieds are also popular spots for purchasing bettas.

I think though that the nice thing about LFSs when buying bettas is that, regardless of looks, you sometimes know which to go for because they choose you too. If a poor little red/blue VT in a store just looked at me like "take me home!", I know I'd choose them over a pricey 'fancy' one which didn't ;)

Lol, I bought a mutt VT, on impulse who gave me that look. R.I.P Lestat. </3

I reccommend Finz n Tailz, you can find them on Facebook. BettaBoys have some really nice looking ones too. There's also a site called BettaBred - I know there's more but that's all I can think of right now!

Not knowing what a "VT" is, I can only suggest Kesgrave Tropicals of Ipswich who have four types? of Betta Splendens available online through eBay.
Don't know if this is what you are looking for but apparently the company has a good reputation. The downside is that the P&P for the UK is £15.00.
If you search on the name in a search engine, it should give their eBay shop.
HTH

£15 give or take a few pounds seems to be about average for postage - from what I have seen anyway!

Thanks for all your responses guys. I dont mind to spend a bit initially.... Certainly beats the £1000+ initial set up of a reef tank, then the £300 a month on coral.... Then the fish lol.

I'll have a look now :good:

That's how I feel too, it was worth it for my to get a fish that I really liked :)

BettaBoys are always going to be a favourite of mine, had majority of mine from them :)

BettaBred again I have used before great, service and great bettas *on sale on forum before webby ;)*

EV Aquatics gets some lovely ones in and they are very reasonably priced for the quality they are :) the Bettas however don't go on there website but do go onto a Betta Sales page on FB *see sig*
