whenever i go 2 my lfs they never hav bettas nd wen they do there is only a plain red or bloe 1 which looks very unhealthy fins not showing any real colours and lying at the bottom of the tank
so my question is where do u get your lovely bettas from? :good:

I ask for a specific colour at my lfs, and then when they next order they will try to get me that colour or tail type! :good: :good:

Just thought I'd mention - apart from the fact that many places deal only in lower-quality bettas - fish typically don't show their best colours, etc. in the more stressful LFS environment, especially as they've often just been through shipping.
And as you probably know, when you take fish home, their appearance will markedly improve over time, and this can be very pronounced in bettas.
I bought one fish, (sold as a Half Moon but with a bent outside ray that failed to reach the spread anyway so a Super Delta - and I do mean Super to me) who seemed to me to be very plain, (and with asymetrical finnage as his tail was shorter than his fins) but struck me as a very nice fish, personality-wise.
As soon as he'd begun to warm up in the bag - even before getting into his tank - the first signs of irridescence began to show.
He's a beautifully colourful boy, and the nicest, most interactive betta I have, so he lives by the head of my bed, nice and handy to turn round and visit.
Yet, logically, I shouldn't have got him; he'd initially appeared rather ugly to me at the store and was several times as expensive as most others there.
Of course, I had no way of knowing, I just liked his apparent personality somehow...

But if you're breeding, of course, rather than looking for pets, it's a whole different ball game.

If you are after something a bit special, why not try one of the breeders on here? Modaz often has bettas on Ebay, and Netty and bronzecat advertise on here when they have babies to sell. :)

Same near me all my local lfs have vt's in either blue or red no other colours nothing else so i went to my missuses bro's lfs which was an extra 10 minutes drive and what do they stock crowntails lots and lots of different colours and sizes too :hyper: .
There could be a place round the corner or that extra 5 minutes drive/walk away that could have the betta of youre dreams i have now realised that so when i need a new fish i go that extra bit thurther it works lol.

The betta in my picture is a delta tail from Pet Co. Yeah PetCo. The one near me has some great bettas and really young too. I have 6 females all were bought when they were only an inch or smaller now they are 2 inches.

I have been to other PetCos that don't have as nice of a selection. Try and locate a breeder for the best quality fish.

Here is another photo of Mr Sexy. That's what I call him.

Why thank you. I think so too. If you are ever in Carson city NV go to our PetCo and check out the fish. It's like the only PetCo that has great looking bettas. Only thing is he is the only betta I have had that gets constipated all the time.
