I would like to buy some pebbles for my tank and I saw an amazing tank with them in on this site, but I can't remember where exactly. The person had used sand and had built a lovely aquatic secenary. I have tried looking on various sites for these pebbles/ cobbles but most have a mininmum order of 1 ton.

I would be greatful for any help you guys and gals can give me.

Garden centres are a good try or even some B&Q's

B&Q are good for them like but remember
to do the fizz test with vinegar if
it fizzes its no good

I've looked on the b&Q and homebase website but they do not have the pebbles I am after. I think they are flint pebbles and they are about 8 inchs long. Any other suggetions.

as i have been on site that some time only put
the most popular thing that's going at the moment

Thanks biffster. I'll tear myself away from my tank for a while and go window shopping. Lol, I love this site - you guys and gals are so helpful.

Biffster is quite right, just take some vinegar with you to do the test. I've picked up some nice stones etc this way. :good:

I am lucky and have a good selection of Garden Centres near me. I've also spotted some decent stones etc at B&Q. If the B&Q do a good selection of water features then you will find they will do the stones that compliment these. Good hunting.

im lucky that i live 5 minutes from the beach, so i grabbed a bagful when i took the dog for a walk. cleaned them in boiling water, didnt put any porous or sandy type rock in, and mine look great. lot sof different colours and interesting shapes. they are all nice and smooth aswell.

If anyone would like a pound or two (thats gives away my age a bit, doesnt it ? )of purple/blue welsh slate,my gardens full of it - happy to post if recipient is happy to pay the postage !!!

I vote B&Q. Awsome service, they even have little buckets of sample stones set up at my local one so you can take a few home first to colour match.
