When You Say Jump, How High Would That Be Exactly?!

I've just acquired a great big glass bowl and I want to try Kai in there to see if he'll cheer the heck up.
It has no lid, though I CAN cover it makeshift and maybe have something made, but I wondered how many cm or inches from the top of the bowl should I leave the water level to make sure he doesn't jump out. (saying that, he doesn't even swim, let alone jump lol)

i would have a make shift lid for him, whats the diameter of the top of the bowl? as i might just have the solution for you and it wont cost you a penny

BLIMEY thats not a very big bowl for your poor betta only joking, couldnt resist hehehehehe.

yep i got some plastic mesh here that you could use, i use it for my boys tanks and its perfect for the tempattion of jumping, allows air circulation as well, call it an apology for cancelling that thing the other week just PM me your address and i will post it for you on monday.

The bowl capacity is 3 gallons and the width at the widest point is 32cm so I HOPE it will cheer him up cos he's captain miserable so far!

Eggcrate or plastic croshey mesh are great tank toppers. If you have at least 1 1/2" from the water level to the top of the bowl/tank you should be fine. Plakkats can just higher though. The fins on most bettas make then not as able to jump as high as other fish. The biggest jumper I had before was hardly even a half of an inch above the water.

I use a hair net over the bowl when scrubbing out tanks. My daughters have lots of them for working in the cafe.

It'll be the biggest thing he ever saw, but if he wants bigger, he shall have bigger
