Hi all,

Well a quick question, I've got about 20 fry (approx) from around 40 spawn about a month or so back and at this stage they're pretty much swimming away from thier mother on thier own and are about 5mm long. Should I begin to take them away from her? as I have a spare tank ready or is it too soon (if so say when to do it!).

Thanks

oh heres a pic of the tank: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y34/sebraaff/DSCF0381.jpg

note in the small floating tank one of my two ickle jeuveniles  from previous spawn

Once the fry are free swimming and spreading around the tank and eating, I'd say it's best to remove them.

I wouldnt move them. The tank looks heavily planted enough for them to hide if the mother gets hungry which she should't cause she must be getting regular feedings. With my breedings I've always found out that it's best to wait until you know the change in tanks will be safe and seeing as how u asked the question your not sure. So i wouldnt move them .Water changes can be fatle to fry.
