But the tanks are inside, Blubble, so what does it matter what the light is like outside? Tanks shouldn't be too near a window anyway. You could have the lights on 2am - 10am, I don't think the fish would notice. The lights are for the plants and for us to view the fish, really.

I put mine on in a morning for an hour or so and then on about 4ish til about 9 or 10pm. As Soybean said - the lights are there to view them. If there's any sign of stress they go off

I put mine on from 7am to 1pm, then 5pm to 7pm
