Question for all you fellow livebearer keepers - it seems like most of us feed our fry multiple times a day, at what point do you stop with the 2-5 times a day feedings and start feeding them like your adults? I have a hard time myself cutting them off and consequently I have one batch of 4 1/2 month old roly poly swordtails. It's difficult to resist them when they go into a frenzy at the sight of me!

I have done better with my other batches of fry though, they aren't as fat as the first group.

Also, for those of you who put your fry in a seperate "fry tank", how old (or how big) are they when you put them back in with adults? And please, a little more specific than "when they are big enough not to fit in the adults mouths"! I usually move my swordtail fry out of the fry tank when they get from 1/2" to 3/4" in length.

well I feed my fry the same food that i give to my adult fish. They seem fine eating it. they are growing fast like they should and are eating it. I don't know but its the keeper how gives them the food of chose for them i think any food that they can have and swollow is the perfect food.

I gradually vut back on the amount of times the fry are fed when I know they are big enough to be with the adults....this way I know they are getting a gradual adjustment to less food....I also start feeding them the regular fish food instead of the baby fish food...

As for size....well for me, I have mostly small fish, I kinda look at the fry...if they look like small adults then I put them with the adulta (with a week or 2 graduation to less food etc.) As far as I am aware, the less time they spend in a smaller box to grow the better as it can stunt their growth :D
