When can I introduce plants?

I seem to have seen different views: When setting up a planted FW tank, can I put the plants in before the tank has finished cycling?

You may do that. The plants will help keep the cycle less deadly if you already have fish already in there. If not they will help shorten the cycle (at least that is what I have found with all my bazillions of tanks I've had over the years .

If you are going to cycle it with ammonia, it could be better that you let tank cycle first and after that you add plants. Few hobbiests have told that some of their plants didn't like "ammonia water".

I think a lot depends upon the "hobbyist". Patience is a fickle resource and it is so easy to add just a few more drops of ammonia.....
