When Are Neon Tetras Happiest? School Of 6? Or More?

Had 3 Neons then got 3 more. Are they happiest in groups in groups of 6?

Six is considered the bare minimum. The more the merrier with shoalers really; I have green neons and have 42, and I'd love to have more.

Depends on the size of the tank, of course, but you should aim for at least 12, IMO.

In that case, I would gradually add neons until you've got a dozen and stock round them
They look so much better in larger shoals.

Thanks; I can't remember who posted it originally, bit it was someone on here! It's always a treat to see our species of fish in the wild.
