Red Texas - its either a line bred strain or a hybrid and Im not sure which it is. That one is actually one of the less impressive ones tbh they look pretty incredible but have huge price tags around £150 usually.

Wills

£15 on fleabay ;)

Yeah its been up for a while and the owner does not seem to know what it is :/ I think there are a few strains and IMO this one looks my Hybrid than line bred :/

Shame, they can obviously be very nice fish if bred right. WOuld love a proper bright blue Carpintis...

Like this one Minnnt :) The blue never shows up very well in pics :(

If it was a true red texas the seller would remember what is was because of the price tag, as wills said they are expensive, there is one on AC at the moment asking £300 for it. That one could be a red devil x texas or maybe midas x texas

He is my last one :( starting to be a bit of a #29### to my JD though. Texas are just utterly gorgeous :p

Yeah i know they can be a bit aggressive which is probably the main reason i haven't got one.

I had a female i grew up from an inch to about 8", she was gentle, but always in her breeding colours.

They're selling red texas cichlids at my petsmart for like 5 dollars a pop

but looking at this thread, I'm curious as to what they're really selling

Good to know Glen. I would really love one, been ogling them today along with a 2" Jaguar... :shifty:

Jags are beautiful but like JDs they are (majority, not all) skittish and lack personality

Yeah so i have read... Would like a freddy or mini dovii, but still a little dubious.

My texas had always been fine with other fish, it was disease that wiped out the others :( it only affected the texas and Tich is the last one :(, he is about 9" now and fell out today with my JD big style I have had to move him, typical they had lived together for over a year with no problems. I am putting it down the the female brazilliensis I added to the tank, being female she has set the boys off at each other :(

If you get one from small and dont mess about changing the tank mates they are usually ok. I would love a jag myself, but no room :(

GS, Wash your mouth out!!!!! JD's have a cracking personality, well mine does.
