I love the colouring on this fish! I'm guessing it's a molly? Can you confirm or correct me please?

Borrowed the pic from Practical Fish Keeping.

Nope, that's a platy. Good looking male. The pattern is partial sunset tuxedo. Sunset is yellow with an orange back end, and tuxedo is when everything except the head and belly is covered in black. Since that one isn't covered on his back or the lower end of his belly, it's a partial tuxedo. I had one that looked a lot like that.

Sorry, but you were close, its a platy. I don't recall the name of the color variation but I have a tank full of them. I think its tuxedo something but the something refers to the orange color. It is another type of livebearer as the molly is but instead of being in the poecilia family like a molly or a guppy it is in the xiphophorus family that includes platies, swords, what were called moons and what are called variatus. They are a nice fish that grows to about 2 inches and are very hardy in most circumstances. The picture is of a nice looking male.

Edit: typos

The only difference between a male and a female that you can see is the shape of the anal fin. Thats the last one on the bottom before the tail. On a female it is an almost equal sided triangle shape, on the male it is long and slender like in the picture. Otherwise you can't tell them apart.
