Just thought i would ask, what is the most you have ever spent on a single fish? :dunno: what is the total cost/size of your tanks (including fish and any other bits?? :*) :)

Most on a single fish was £55 for an L number plec, a little more than we should have paid, but it was a nice specimin.

Total cost of tanks? God. I'd say that in the last 18 months we've spent around £4,000 to £5,000 as a guess. Hard to know really. :dunno:

Edit--

Sits back and waits for Paul to shock us all with his Aro

$14.99 for my Zebra Cichlid
$14.99 for my other one...
I paid $10.99 For my electric blue Johnnii.
I'm too lazy to think back and get all of em...

I am too cheap to pay much for my fish, especially since I refuse to buy any fish that is wild caught. I think the most expensive fish I have bought was my Turquoise Severum that I paid ten dollars for.

Most on a single fish was £90 for my motoro ray, though she was priced at £110 and i got a cash deal. My Ageneiosus magoi pair is my most expensive live stock purchase at £75 each.

I recon i've only spent about £2000 on tanks and equipment, i buy a lot of my stuff second hand for next to nothing (for example 3x 55 gallon tanks at £12 each, 4x 20g tanks for £4 each) and build my own stands using spare materials from work.
Where i have spent a LOT of money is on bogwood and live stock, i have easily over £500 worth of bogwood (i really dont actually want to know how much i've spent on the stuff) and an average price for one of my fish is £30, and i have a lot of fish.

I have to say that all my fish are cheap. I think I paid $4.99 for the SAEs. I think the highest price I have seen on a FW fish was online and it was about $500 but I don't remember what kind of fish it was. If you want to get a really shocking answer, post this in the SW section. Even "cheap" SW fish run $20 with fish costing over $1000 not uncommon at all.

I probably have about $2000 invested in tanks, lights, filters, etc. A lot of money for some $4 angels and $2.99 tetras.

The most I have ever spent on one fish was $12 for my bristlenose pleco. That was the first time my lfs ever had one, and the first time I had ever seen one in real life, so I snatched it immediately. He is a doll :D

I have one 75G, and three 1G tanks. I have put maybe $10 into each of the 1 gallons. For my 75G though... oh jeez. Including buying the tank, setting it up, and stocking.... I'm going to guess I have put at least $3000 into it.

My most expensive fish are the bettas I'm just about to order, work out around £7-8 including postage. Most expensive collection of fish, probably the khulis, £1.50 each and I got 6. Tankwise, well, the 1.5 g's are £4.99 each and I have four, the 1g was £1.89, the 3g's are £4.99 each and I have two, the 15g was £15 and the 20g was £35 including equiptment. So all in all I've spent about £100 on all the tanks, equiptment, substrate, deco and plants.

The LFS near where I work has some unbelievably pretty discus for $159. They are 4" to 6" long. I don't think I'm ready to try keeping fish that expensive yet. It always bothers me when I lose a fish but it's one thing to lose a $2.49 tetra but I'd really hate to lose a fish I paid over $100 for.

My most expensive fish cost me $47. I forget what it's called, but it was silver, with red and black and white striped-fins. It some sort of Anostomus i think.

And i know Koi are probably some of the most expensive fish. Show-winning Koi can go for $500-$10,000 a fish.

My most expensive fish? Hmm. The two goldfish cost 10 cents each, the bettas all cost between $1.99-2.99, and the CAE cost somewhere around two bucks. So really none of my fish are very extravangant; I even got a white, black, and blue marbled Plakat for under 3 dollars.

However, I guess my tanks, and the MEDS from my "rescues" was the most expensive. All of my bettas - which at one point was up to 12 - have been in 5 gallon filtered tanks with tons of silk plants, gravel, and gaves. Recently I've added a lot of live/frozen foods and different brands of pellets into the mix, as well as blackwater extract. So, I think my combined betta population was quite expensive indeed.

My goldfish have also been pricey, but it was more because I didn't know how to take care of them right when I first bought them, so I started with a 5 gallon tank, then got a 10 when I was told it wasn't big enough, then a 30gal when I realized THAT wasn't big enough either, and now I'm looking into a 50-75 gallon (there are two fish; commons.) I'm sure by the time they are in thier proper tank, they'll have cost my a fortune. I wish I had my own place so I could just hurry up and make a darn pond instead.

The most I've ever spent on a fish was $4.50 for a 3" to 4" common pleco which is still alive after surviving horribel water conditions and jumping out of his tank and being out for 10 minutes.
