i have Tetras AquaSafe as my dechlorinator, and i was wondering if it was pretty good as a dechlorinator
i have .25ppm of ammonia in my tap water from time to time, and quite a few metals as stated on my water district sites water report.
whats the best tap water treatment out there? i wouldnt mind spending some extra money if it was going to keep the fish safer :)

I'm not familiar with that product but if it doesn't de-toxify ammonia, then I would switch to Prime, Ammo-Lock or one of the others that does. You need something to make the ammonia in your tap water safe until your filter can process it.

Aquasafe is neck & neck with Prime. Prime is cheaper, Aquasafe is more readily available.

I use API Tap Water Conditioner. It's a basic dechlorinator and chloramine remover and it works fine. It doesn't have any extra additives (which I don't want) and costs only $5.99 for a 16 oz. bottle that treats up to 9,460 gallons.

i was going to buy the API water treatment, but i have ammonia in my tap water so i was looking for the little bit extra just to be on the safe side :)

I use waterlife haloex. A 60ml bottle does me 300 gals. I normally get a couple of bottles a year.

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the ammonia if your tank's cycled as the filter should break that down in no time.

i noticed the Prime bottles don't say anything about heavy metals being neutralized, where as the Tetra ones do. since im going to be using the hot water tap im going to have to side with Tetras Aqua Safe this time

Yes it does :).

Prime™ is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime™ removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime™ converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime™ may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime™ detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels.

I use Kockney Koi Pond Dechlorinator. It deals with all the necessaries.

Pond dechlorinator is well worth looking into. I can find no inferiorities as compared to aquarium dechlor and it's a fraction of the price.

I bought a 500ml bottle for £8 which will last around 9 years if I do a 30% water change every week in my 260 litre aquarium.

Can't beat it really. I'll never consider any aquarium dechlor again! :good:

Kockney Koi is available on Ebay if you are interested.

...knew he was going to get kocky about this
hahahaha  that was pretty funny.

so i originally posted this because i was worried that my tank was all copper on the inside, but since it has a fiber glass lining on the inside im not so worried now as the water coming out of the faucet wount have that much copper in it.
now i can keep shrimp in the future :)

I use this after advice from BTT :)

Koi Care - Chlor-Go

It treats 9000 litres and is a 250ml bottle, think it was £8. Will last me yonks!! because doing roughly 30% water changes each week I only need like 1ml

Does a fair amount of things too, little description off of a site:

"Chlor-Go rapidly removes chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals such as zinc, copper and lead from tap water allowing fresh tap water to be added directly to the pond without putting fish in any danger from these potentially toxic substances. Chlor-Go has a calming effect on fish being transported, it should always be used in transportation bags and isolation tanks regardless of whether or not tap water has been used."
