Whats The Best Cheep Filter?

I've had both penguin and aquaclear filters. Personally I would choose the aquaclear because of it's versatility and reliability. That being said, I have had a penguin since 1999 and it's still running strong.

yea penguin is the way to go i am going to get a 350 for my 55g and I cant wait to see how it does

AquaClears are better than expensive filters. I have tried , and am still running a penguin Bio-wheel. It is FAIL. It is hard to clean, and well, just FAIL. Go for a Aquaclear.

Interesting for an old thread to come to life.

I have an Aqueon 30 for about two months now. Works great and is fairly quiet as long as the water level is kept high. If the water level drops just a little, the exiting water gets a little noisy like a fast moving stream.

I have no experience with Biowheels so I can't compare.
