I enjoy the work and having something to work on (mostly when it's a new project or tank, something challenging), but there's nothing more fun than watching an active tank with a lot of personality in it.

I'll agree with that, because I tend to get bored with something if I'm not actively working on it or setting it up. That's why my tanks have to have a lot of personality, or at least be a little unusual to keep me interested.

Thats exactly how I am too.
I'm in the middle of betta breeding and a nano ATM. Plus a growing 55G...

It's not that i don't like doing maintanence, but after standing on a bucket for an hour cleaning and leaning over my 125gal my arms are usually absolutely knackered afterwards- but i always keep up on doing weekly water changes, cleaning my substrate and cleaning my filters every now and then, it feels very satisfying though to look back at your pride and joy though and sit down for half an hour or more staring at your tank after all that hard work and watch your fish happily swim about in their clean haven .

Breeding them, keeping them happy and healthy, trying new foods on them... that sort of thing. While I do like my tanks to look nice, that's second to the happiness of the fish and always will be

Yeah i love trying new foods on my fish too or buying them new ornements/rocks/plants for the tanks as well, some people say fish are dumb but i really think they do notice and appreiciate the difference in diet and tank set up, and when my fish are happy im happy

Cleaning the tank is a real chore sometimes, and other times it's fun. It's never boring to watch the fish though, unless it's the Kuhlis. They could give ninjas lessons in disappearing in the blink of an eye.

I voted for maintenance beause I like to work with the tank and the fish, get it looking nice. I always feel good after the weekly water change etc as the fish must feel great too to have cleaner water. Then I sit back and watch knowing they are happy in their home!
