stock a 6foot 600 litre show tank with ....

theres so many options im confused.

so far i was thinking either:

rainbows

south american cichlids

or barbs, danios and fast moving fish

,
i do like kind of biotypes so would prefer if all the fish came from the same continent at least dosent have to be the exactly same region though hence 'kind of biotype'

any one got any unique options, and no oscar suggestions!

cichlids cichlids cichlids cichlids oh did i mention cichlids?? as you may have guseed im a bit of a cichlid fan

Whats the dimensions of the tank?

Though I'd probably chuck some large NW cichlids in it to (probably a pair of jags :P), but that doesn't seem to be your cup of tea from the fish you listed.

dimensions are:

120x60x66

i need something that will be eyecatching are draw people in, i was considering unusual fish now oddballs and the like. i think the ultimate dilema i face is wether i opt for lots of small fish in a big tank or a few biggish fish.

really im not a big fan of the big predortory fish. the biggest fish i like are black ghost knifes or bala sharks.

whoops i so must of copied the wrong dimensions down, i am definetly sure its 600 litre though! i get it in tomorow so il get the exact dimensions then!

though i am thinking south american now, discus, cardinals, rummeynose, sterbai and ancistrus. o and even though there not a south american species i still wanted to include them japonica shrimps.

i have no idea what quantities to go for though.

going for a resonably planted tank with stones and bogwood, nothing too much though. going to be viewable from both sides.

im hoping to get a 6 foot 600 litre tank from ND Aquatics next year, my stocking plan will be a big school of Denisons Barbs, Bala Sharks, Clown Loaches, and my BGK

a few bala sharks and clown loaches
every one loves a shark

Loads of people are gonna hate me for this but..... Im not keen on Discus...

I think they look a bit wierd! (dont shoot me!)

I'd go for a malawi tank for sure. Maybe not the big brutes, but many of the smaller ones. Watch their interactions.

hmmm rainbows would be good its hard to think of any bottem dwellers for them though since i want them in same general areas, would also generate increased rainbow sales, though i do have a spare 215 litre display, big enough for rainbows, i must admit my knowledge on rainbows is very weak!

saz i wont shoot you dont worry! but unfortenulty i think malawis are my least favourate group of fish ... :P

i was kinda thinking since were getting a big increase in fish being brought in since its christmas people seem to be neglecting/ breaking down tanks and giving us there big unwanted fish i could put a few in there, it wont be big enough to sustain alot though is my only concern.

how about some rainbows, a pr of severums, a pr of geophagus surinamensis, and some Botia lohachata for the bottom. You could also add a couple of zebra peckoltias, some Brochis splendens and some Royal whiptails for variation.
