What Type Of Algae Eater Do You Think I Should Get?

First, here are my tank stats:
55 gallon (US) planted community tank
- A pair of keyholes
- 5 Boesmani rainbowfish
- 6 Rummy nose tetra
- 4 ottos
- 4 amano shrimp

I gave a school of cardinal tetras to my grandma, lol, so I have room for something new now.

So, I usually treat my tank with Flourish Excel, but there was like a 2 week time span where I ran out and was too busy to get more (nearest store to carry it is like an hour away). I guess that threw off the balance in my tank and now I have a mild algae problem. The ottos only seem to eat the brown algae, but the majority of it is green. I usually have to supplement my ottos with cucumbers because they don't really eat too much algae.
Now I am treating again with Excel but it isn't working out that great.

Do you think I should get another type of biological algae control? If so, what kind do you think would work well in my tank? I really don't want a large pleco .

(Also, besides something to control the algae do you think I have room for other fish in my tank? If, so what do you think would work well :p . The filtration is "enough" for a 75 gallon tank.)

Thanks for any help!

yea ottos are not good at all i have 10 of them but they are rubbish. i got myself 2 bn month bac and there is incedible progress!!!!!!!

How big do bn get? I read 5 inches - i don't want it to be the biggest fish in my tank lol

Ples are not necessarily algae eaters and you sould only get fish because you like them and can provide the right environment for them, not to try to solve a problem.

Oh I know. I'm looking to see if there are any fish I like that would also solve the problem and are suitable for my tank environment. Thats why i am getting input here and doing my own research instead of just jumping into it and getting a fish...

BN plec get to about 4-5" and are SLOW GROWERS. The also need some wood in their diet so take that into consideration.

What is an RTBS?

Ummm. I don't have any brown hair algae. Its mostly green - don't know what type? Its like little specks on the glass and on plants and some substrate.

Also, I have 2 large pieces of driftwood in my tank.

Red Tail Black Sharks ( sorry my fault )

if its green
1 bn is the way to go

Okay thanks for all your help! Some of the bn varieties are pretty cool. Are they all equally apt at eating algae?

Meant to say "yes" to the starlight suggestion.

Not sure on the mod topic, I pm'd backtotropical and he hasn't pm'd me back yet.
