I bought some live brine shrimp and decided to pop them into a tub and just scoop out a few at a time for feeding to my fish. Will they just multiply? What should I feed them?

They eat free floating algae (green water). Most will die within a few days of you getting them. Sometimes they will release tiny brown eggs that can be dried and then hatched out. If you keep the adults happy and well fed the females produce live young instead of eggs.

:hyper: we have had so much rain I have live daphnia in the bird bath, and in pots and empty things round the garden. They are little devils to catch though!

i have daphnia in a small tank in green water, they do superb and i dont nothing with it at all, much eaiser than brine shrimp.

If you get the water conditions in the tub OK (by adding more water with sea/table/rock salt than they came with), leave it on a windowsill where it can get sunlight (direct is good) and feed them powdered dried yeast and/or powdered spirulina a couple of times a week, they will thrive and give birth to live young and lay eggs.

Yeah, those are the basics. I have never tried this myself, but I've always wanted to. Maybe I'll try it this week. :)
