Hey guys/gals.

I've recently "evicted" the occupier of my smallest tank, got him a bigger tank which he's still getting used to. Anyway, in the small Aqua40 (26 ish litres) I want to do some sort of planted/nano tank. But I'm unsure what fish to keep in a relatively small tank? I guess theres the possiblilty of a Beta, but I've never really read up on/had any experience with these, and I'm not sure if the size suits?

I was thinking along the lines of some tetras or something, any ideas?

Oh, if it matters, I want to try and use sand for substrate (maybe with plant substrate underneath).

Edit: Dimensions are 11" wide x 12" x 12"

if you just want to have an nano tank i would get a couple of ottocinclus or mabey a dwarf snail eater/puffer fish
if you want some tetras get a couple of bleeding hearts or glowlights

if you want some tetras get a couple of bleeding hearts

Bad idea. Bleeding hearts grow big. And they are schooling fish, so a couple is not a good idea.

But there are definitely good nano fish out there. If you're looking for a school, maybe one of these:

ember tetras
boraras urophtalmoides
boraras maculata
boraras brigittae
pygmy corys
heterandria formosa
spotted blue-eyes (pseudomugil gertrudae)
male endlers

Otherwise the suggestion of a betta is a good one.

Well get some tetras or neons , or get a betta with a group of ottos.
