if what i read it correct, get some more tetras.to choose fish you want, simple visit a few aquatic shops, look at the fish you desire, note down the names, search them at home, choose which ones are best,go back to shop, purchase them.

Well a mix of tetras and 2 pair of angel fish. You can have some loaches and corries.

Not sure what kind of Tetra i have it's silver with a black stripe back through it and had a litlle orange around the bottom fin and the tail if that helps any. I wanted to show a pic of it here but i didn't know how to do it.

What type of algae eater is it? A chinese algae eater, or a plec? And if it is a plec, what species? A 36g would be too small for a common plec or gibby, would be fine for a bristlenose or two though. If it's either a common or gibby, or indeed if it is a chinese algae eater, you're best off returning them asap. Course, you could be talking about otos or a small plec, so it'd be great if you could tell us what type they are. If it's an oto, you'll need some more of those as they like to live in groups.

You also need at least another 4 tetras of the same type, but some angels will eat tetras so it might be worth reconsidering that (although my hubby keeps angels with tetras, they're in a 6ft very heavily planted tank - we've not lost a tetra yet).

A word of advice though - if your LFS know nothing about fish (and indeed they dont if they've sold you a common plec for a 36g tank lol), I wouldn't take their advice on fish selection for your tank. Take a look around, if you see something you like - dont buy it there and then, come home, have a look online and see if it's compatable, then decide. LFS will tell you fish are suitable purely to make a sale, and you could get stuck with a tankbuster or predatory fish that could be really unsuitable for your tank ;)

Yeah, I mean ideally you would want to boost the number of tetra and angelfish in the tanks. Tetras like to shoal and would appreciated numbers of 6 or more of their own species.
You've got a decent size tank so once the tetras have increased in numbers and same for the Angelfish it still leaves a nice bit of room for some more fish.
A nice shoal of Cory Catfish could look nice and come in many different colour variations to suit your taste. After that you could go for something a little different like Golden Apple Snails, Red Cherry Shrimp or even another shoal of different tetra.

I'm not sure what kind of algae eater it is. It's the only kind i've seen to buy. It's very dark in color and has light spots all over it. If that helps any! I had more tetras but they didn't make it. I have only had 1 tetra for a long time now. I didn't get anymore because it keeps nipping the other fish! It is VERY aggressive! It has killed some of the other fish i have had. Also the Angel fish it not at all aggressive. And i was told that my red tailed shark was going to be the aggressive one of all i had. Well they were wrong. Actually believe it or not the Angelfish and the shark seem to stick together! Maybe i will try to get some more Angelfish. I would lovwe to have something of a very bright color to put in the tank. I'd love to have something of a blue or yellow color!
