Hi

I know this thing is used for filtering the water somehow, but i dont know what its called and have no idea whats its usedfor or how to set it up.

If anyone can tell me wat it is or wat it does and how to use it would be really helpful

go to a site like photobucket of flickr and upload the pic there, then you'll get an url to post it here. :good:

if you are totally stuck, post the pics in the "members aquarium and fish pictures section", and link the pics, here.

I think that's a protein skimmer! Often used in marine aquariums to filter the water a little more!
ooh a protein skimmer ayy

can it be used in freshwater aquariums and does anyone know exactly what it does or what your supposed to put in this tube..if your supposed to put anything in it in the the first place..

thanks for your help

protein skimmers don't work with freshwater i'm afraid.

humm, don't recognise the unit, i'll go for a skimmer though. Saltwater skimmers do not work on freshwater tanks. that is not to say there are no skimmers for freshwater( they are used extensively in the freshwater trade). the last one i saw was over 6 feet tall, though i believe they are down to about 3 feet tall now.
any hoo, yours looks like a saltwater unit!

ps, it looks like one of the TMC V2 skimmers, if thats any help!

lol, they actually look like i drain pipe sticking out of the pond :hyper: . but the principal is the same. the home units do look similar to the v2. take a look at the TMC site, they do freshwater units.

not sure the exact model you have. if you have no use for it,. put it in the sales section here.
