Well yesterday my mama guppy had about 20 fry. I have them in a home made netbreeder trap the mother is not in the trap but the trap is made of a plastic 2L bottle cut in half with nail holes on the bottom and a large window cut out on either side the bottle is covered with a pantyhose around the botle it is pulled tight. none of the fish can get out but Im afraid its a little to small for twenty guppys to grow up in. I have another ten gallon aside from the 26 gal there in now i have a aqua clear filter, heater and light. Should I keep them in the trap or the empthy ten gallon. the trap is also an ugly eyesore to my tank.

also do they need gravel?

i would put them in the 10 gallon.
i don't know why but i find that the guppy fry just die off if they are not able to swim around in a big space.
just with the filter in the ten gallon put a sponge or pantyhose over the intake so they are not sucked up.

If you have the space to have them swim freely and safely then its always the best option.

Nah, leave the tank with no gravel/sand, it's far easier to keep the tank and water clean! It also makes it easier for the fry to find food.. once it's in the gravel, they can't find it! :) That's what I do anyway. ;)

thnx so much I put them in the tank with a pantyhose areond filter grate
