As I said in another post my father is having a tank for xmas. So I was wondering what I should get to put in there for him obviously neons my step mum is getting him guppys coz he loves them but what else she thinks it about the same size as my tank 130 litres I was thinking maybe a fighter what else will go with the fish I've already said thanks guys

A Fighter and Guppies are generally advised against due to potential aggression and damage done to both parties.

a betta (that's what I think you mean by fighter) might attack the guppies, I'd avoid that.

If you're getting him the tank for Christmas, you may want to consider doing a fishless cycle before putting in stock. Especially if you're getting neon tetras. neons these days are exceptionally fragile, and IMO shouldn't be kept in new tank set ups.

+1 onidrase

I waited until my tank was running (fully cycled as well) for about 4 months before I added them to my tank... haven't had a single issue since adding them. Just make sure the shoal size is large enough (6+, but more is always better) and the tank is matured a bit, even after the fishless cycle is over.

The filter has already been running in my tank for the last 5 weeks lol its different to mine I would of put some of my mature media in other wise I thought guppys and bettas were ok lol good job I asked then lol what fish could I get for him?

Good starter fish once the tank is cycled include guppies, platys, harlequin rasboras, glowlight tetras, black/red phantom tetras, corydoras (on a sand or very smooth gravel substrate).

I got a ruby shark about a year and half ago and still enjoying him. Worth a look.
:)

What's the pH? Not much point going South American if your pH is on the alkaline side...

the tank isnt set up yet because we are going to dechloranate it etc early in the morning let the temp get up whilst hes in work but the filter is running in my tank now along side my filter so it can build up good bacteria

So what's your ph? You can still get an idea by letting a glass of tap water stand overnight and then testing
