I have a 125 gallon aquarium. Its 6 feet by 18inches. 473L.
I have..
10 Angelicus Botia (my loaches :hyper: )
1 male blue gourami
1 female gold gourami
1 female opaline gourami
1 bristlenose pleco

I still have quite a bit of room to play with... I was kinda thinking of doing a tank with a school of blue gourami and the color variations after seeing a few youtube videos of large tanks with a lot of gourami. Is this a bad idea even if I only keep one male?? And if its not going to be a territory problem... how many of the same species can I keep based on my stock and tank size? Or maybe more gourami's is a bad idea and I should think about different species???

Can't find much on this anywhere on the internet for some reason =/. Any suggestions would be awesome :D

is the blue gourami you refer to also called the three spot or the dwarf gourami?

blue gourami is not a common name I'm familiar with.

Blue Gourami is generally what we know as Opaline gourami (same species as the gold gourami etc).

To be honest, so long as you only have one male, i dont see why adding afew more females wouldnt hurt, be it the blues or golds :good: another 2-3 max though, you want to give thm space.

I think a nie big shoal of something that schools or at least shoals tightly... a group of 30 or 40...

Harlequins
Copper Harlequins
Emerald Eye Rasbora
Rummynose Tetra
Sawbwa Resplendens
Congo Tetra (bigger and more aggressive than the others)

I was really trying to stay away from having a large shoal... I wanted something more unique and I wanted to be able to tell my fish apart. I ended up getting 12 Angelfish after talking to the guy at the lfs. He has a large tank at home that was filled with loaches, gouramis, and angels. I got two full sized angels and 10 of the medium sized. I'm really glad I picked this species.
The Angelfish make my tank look so much more exotic and I love how unique every one I picked out it. I can tell them all apart =). I love that they are slow-moving. My gouramis and angelicus loaches seem to swim much more now that I've found a new home for my rosy barbs. My tank isn't so busy like it was before =D !
