What Should I Put In My Homemae Co2

i have a 2 liter bottle whith a hole in the lid so the tube fits in tightly. what do i put inside or what is the best to put inside. also i havent got a lil blue thing what goes at the end of the tube in the tank lol(cnt remember the name) would it be ok if i just jammed the tube somewere under the water like wrap it under my filter.

here is a pic of my tank how it looks now with 4 minnows in. it hasnot got a heater i because the boiler downstairs is just under it so provides a heat of around 21-22 degrees C

the back is a little dirty lol. also is it important that the surface is not disturbed too much. thanks
