After the tragic lose of my baby notatus I tried to order another but the shipper said they were is poor shape because another fish beat them up so he will not ship them. I'm now really sad I had the perfect stocking. SO now Im thinking should I get a wild 4" Hero Notatus OR try a 3" wild Hoplarchus psittiacus? I know I love the Notatus but I'm tempted by trying something new and very differant. The Hoplarchus psittiacus is $10 cheaper too.

AHHH I just don't know what to do. I alread have a green and super red severum.

what one? If I go with the notatus what sex should I get? Would 2 males one female be ok or, 2 females one male? Or does it matter much?

Hoplarchus psittiacus are lovely but are very very aggressive when big, think Oscar with a bigger attitude.

...Still its a dream fish for me and if i had the opportunity to have one, i'd take it.

It might even be cheaper then the notatus. $30 for a 3" wild hop psittiacus and the shipping is not as much because it is smaller. They notatus is $40 and more money to ship.

I have been getting mixed info on these guys. Some say they are really chill fish. On you tube I say a pair with 2 severum no problems. Then some say they are very shy others say they are mean. There is not much info on the net but what I find says they are semi aggressive and should not be kept with aggressive fish. Also it takes them 3-5 years to fully mature and start spawning.

It will come down to price. I will go with what is the best price.

Glenbo you have more then 1 severum in the same tank what sex are they?

All male hun, no problems, 2 adults, 1 sub adult and 1 juvi, males are fine tpgether if in groups, they get a pecking order, if i added a female, there would be chaos.

I find females far to aggressive, i had a sub adult female green and she battered everything in the tank so i gave her away.

Well I ordered the True parrot $42 that includes shipping. It's a great deal I could not pass up. I'm excited and scared I don't really know what I'm getting into with this fish. I was talking to some people on MFK. Some say the fish is shy, Somes say its mellow and outgoing, Other said they are mean. The one I'm getting is 3" and wild. SO I hope since it is young and growing up with my other fish it will be ok. Then I read they can get to be 16" but it takes years for them to get that big. 12" in 18 months seems the normal growth rate. Now my 100 gal seems so small. I have 55 gal I could move a fish too. I could aways sell one if I must.

This fish is going to be an adventure for me. I'm doing as much research as I can but these fish are hard to find info on.

I'm pleased you went for it, please post pics and stuff, i think your the first member here to have one :)

Oh yes I will post photos as soon as I get it. I love to to take photos of my fish so thats not a problem.
